We have mentioned in our earlier post, Seoul 03 - Spaghetti Incident, that exposed AC pipes on building facade are commonly found in Korea. Based on our experience in dealing with AC condensers so far, this characteristic is pretty unique and contextual to the country itself. Our recent trip to Seoul in Feb 2011 has strengthened our belief. Check out the photos.

29 . Hotlines

We recently came across a pretty interesting AC screen in Sri Lanka. It is tough to tell which one came first, the condensers or the screen, but one thing for sure it looked intentional as the screen was designed to wrap around the whole length of facade. Though it is a bit pity that some condensers were installed above the top of screen. This buidling could have been nicer looking. We love the fine texture of the screen and its simplicity.

28 . green ac facade... make that your prime elevation...

The western facade of a building is commonly regarded as the least desirable elevation. This often leads to the less thought out design proposals for any tower. What if all CUs are concentrated and repeated on this particular face? Would the repetition of the CUs become an aesthetic/elevation on its own? Add some greens and hanging vines to it, would that make the western face the greenest elevation of any tower proposal?

If you follow our blog you may already know that one of the main catalysts of ac phenomena is programmatic change. Here we imagine an approx 400% growth of ac consumption of a building.
